Nuclear mass table in deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum, I: Even-even nuclei

Kaiyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The ground-state properties of even-even nuclei with 8 <= Z <= 120 from the proton drip line to the neutron drip line have been investigated using the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc). The study predicts that 2583 even-even nuclei are bound when the effects of deformation and continuum are included simultaneously. The calculated properties are compared with available experimental data, and the results show good agreement.

Proton Distribution Radii of 16-24O: Signatures of New Shell Closures and Neutron Skin

S. Kaur et al.

Summary: The study finds that 22-24O, despite being doubly magic nuclei, have a thick neutron skin. The imprints of shell closures at N = 14 and 16 are observed as local minima in proton radii, providing evidence for the tensor interaction causing them. The results agree well with ab initio calculations and shell model predictions.

Charge-changing cross sections for 42-51Ca and effect of charged-particle evaporation induced by neutron-removal reactions

M. Tanaka et al.

Summary: Charge-changing cross sections sigma(CC) for Ca42-51 on a carbon target at around 280 MeV/nucleon have been measured. The measured sigma(CC) data show a significant decrease, contrary to the expectations, which is attributed to the charged-particle evaporation effect induced by the neutron-removal reaction. By taking the evaporation effect into account, the sigma(CC) data sets for nuclides from C to Fe isotopes on C-12 measured at around 280 MeV/nucleon can be successfully reproduced, with a standard deviation of 1.6%. Furthermore, it is found that the evaporation effect becomes negligible in the neutron-rich region, and the sigma(CC) data for neutron-rich Ca isotopes (A >= 51) are highly sensitive to the point-proton radius r(p), allowing for potential determination of r(p) for very neutron-rich nuclei.
