Synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles-grafted-hyaluronic acid/β-cyclodextrin as a novel pH-sensetive nanocarrier for targeted delivery of doxorubicin

Hafez Khodayari et al.

Summary: pH-sensitive magnetic nanocarrier was developed for doxorubicin delivery by grafting hyaluronic acid/beta-cyclodextrin onto Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The nanocarrier demonstrated strong pH-dependent release behavior, with higher drug release at pH 5.6 compared to pH 7.4. The release mechanism was determined to be controlled by Fickian diffusion kinetic. The surface modification of the magnetic nanoparticles greatly influenced drug sorption and was more compatible with Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. Thermodynamic parameters indicated that the doxorubicin adsorption was endothermic and spontaneous, suggesting physiochemical sorption. These findings highlight the potential of pH-sensitive nanocarriers for drug delivery.

Enhancement in photoluminescence performance of carbon-based Fe3O4@ZnO-C nanocomposites

Mulda Astuti et al.

Summary: A Fe3O4@ZnO-C nanocomposite with a core-shell structure was synthesized using the coprecipitation method. XRD diffractograms confirm the formation of Fe3O4 and ZnO phases, which have cubic and hexagonal crystal systems, respectively. TEM images reveal the core-shell structure formation in the Fe3O4@ZnO nanocomposite. FTIR measurements indicate the presence of carbon in Fe3O4@ZnO-C samples, and photoluminescence spectroscopy shows that the addition of carbon and CQD enhances the photoluminescence intensity in the orange and green emission wavelength ranges.

Synthesis of polymer-functionalized β-cyclodextrin, Mg2+ doped, coating magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticle carriers for penicillin G acylase immobilization

Gang Wu et al.

Summary: Based on the beneficial effects of magnesium ions, this study improved the performance of immobilized enzymes by using magnesium ion-doped carriers. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared and coated with beta-cyclodextrin, and then glutaraldehyde was grafted onto the surface to obtain Mg2+-Fe3O4 @ beta-CD-g-GA NPs. Penicillin G acylase (PGA) was immobilized through a covalent bond formation. The optimized conditions resulted in an enzyme activity recovery of 95.6%, enzyme activity of 31997 U/g, and enzyme loading capacity of 110 mg/g. The immobilized PGA showed improved operational stability and storage stability compared to free PGA, with 56% initial vitality after 11 repeated uses and 86.6% carrier recovery.

Evaluation of an ionic liquid chiral selector based on sulfobutylether-?- cyclodextrin in capillary electrophoresis

Xiaofei Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, an ionic liquid chiral selector based on sulfobutylether-8-cyclodextrin (SBE-8-CD) was prepared for enantioseparation in capillary electrophoresis (CE) for the first time. The ionic liquid exhibited superior enantioselectivity compared to native SBE-8-CD, without obvious prolongation of migration time. Factors affecting the enantioseparations were investigated, and the method was successfully used for determining the enantiomeric purity of amlodipine besylate (AML). The chiral recognition mechanism was probed using capillary electrophoresis, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and molecular modeling techniques.

Chiral nanocomposite of sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin embedded in carbon nanofibers for enantioselective electrochemical discrimination of amlodipine, metoprolol and clenbuterol enantiomers

Pramod K. Kalambate et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive and selective electrochemical chiral sensor was developed based on the competitive supramolecular interaction of CNFs embedded SBE-β-CD with optically active cationic drugs. The sensor platform could efficiently discriminate enantiomers of amlodipine, clenbuterol, and metoprolol based on discernible peak potential differences. The study suggests that SBE-β-CD is a better chiral ligand than neutral cyclodextrins for enantioselectivity.
