Shielding a charged black hole

Justin C. Feng et al.

Summary: We propose a shielding mechanism for a charged black hole in the presence of charged matter fields based on the Einstein-Maxwell field equations. By considering a charged generalization of the Einstein cluster, we demonstrate the existence of this shielding mechanism in different parameterizations. Additionally, we provide the most general electrovacuum solution in a charge-free spacetime region but with a static and spherically symmetric charge distribution elsewhere, as well as a convenient parameterization for the global solution of the Einstein-Maxwell's field equations in the presence of a charged black hole and charged fluid environment. Furthermore, we discuss the properties of the photon sphere, shadow radius, and eikonal quasinormal modes in the Einstein-Maxwell cluster.

Black holes surrounded by generic dark matter profiles: Appearance and gravitational-wave emission

Enzo Figueiredo et al.

Summary: We present a numerical approach for finding asymptotically flat black hole solutions with anisotropic fluids and generic density profiles. Our model has various applications in realistic astrophysical scenarios, including the description of galaxies hosting supermassive black holes, dark matter environments, and accretion phenomena. We apply this framework to black holes surrounded by different families of dark matter profiles and study the geodesic motion of particles as well as gravitational perturbations induced by a small secondary object. Our analysis confirms and extends previous studies on the effects of gravitational redshift on orbital frequencies and axial fluxes.

Shadows of black holes with dark matter halo

Sergio V. M. C. B. Xavier et al.

Summary: We investigate the shadow and gravitational lensing effects of a supermassive black hole immersed in a dark matter halo, comparing it with an isolated Schwarzschild black hole. Multiple light rings emerge when the dark matter distribution concentrates near the black hole's event horizon, resulting in significantly different shadows and gravitational lensing compared to the Schwarzschild black hole. We constrained the parameters of the dark matter halo using shadow data obtained from the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration for M87* and SgrA*.

Black holes surrounded by Einstein clusters as models of dark matter fluid

Kimet Jusufi

Summary: We constructed a new class of spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat black holes and naked singularities surrounded by anisotropic dark matter fluid. The dark matter is assumed to consist of weakly interacting particles orbiting a supermassive black hole, forming a dark matter halo with tangential pressure. At large distances from the black hole, we obtained a constant flat curve with an upper bound for the dark matter state parameter omega ? 10(-7). We investigated the effects of the dark matter fluid on various aspects such as the shadow radius of the black hole/naked singularity and the stability of star orbits.

Solutions of the Einstein Equations for a Black Hole Surrounded by a Galactic Halo

R. A. Konoplya et al.

Summary: This study considers various profiles of matter distribution in galactic halos as the source term for the Einstein equations and finds exact solutions that represent the metric of a central black hole immersed in a galactic halo. Very accurate general analytical metrics, including all the particular models, are found in the astrophysically relevant regime.

Black holes in galaxies: Environmental impact on gravitational-wave generation and propagation

Vitor Cardoso et al.

Summary: The study presents a family of solutions describing asymptotically flat black holes with hair and a regular horizon, useful for constraining the surrounding environment of astrophysical black holes using gravitational-wave or electromagnetic observations. The main properties of the geometry, including corrections induced by external matter and fluxes from orbiting particles, are computed for future characterization with upcoming observatories.
