TGFβ2 is a Prognostic Biomarker for Gastric Cancer and is Associated With Methylation and Immunotherapy Responses

Bangling Han et al.

Summary: This study explored the function and prognostic value of TGF beta 2 and its methylation in gastric cancer. The results showed that high expression of TGF beta 2 and hypomethylation levels of TGF beta 2 were negative factors in the prognosis of gastric cancer. TGF beta 2 was involved in energy metabolism, extracellular matrix formation, and cell cycle regulation. In the gastric cancer microenvironment, TGF beta 2 was associated with immune cell infiltration, cytokine expression, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Alterations in DNA Methylation in Orofacial Clefts

Chirakan Charoenvicha et al.

Summary: This article reviews the alterations of DNA methylation associated with the occurrence of orofacial clefts. The data has been categorized into four main groups: human blood, human tissues, animal models, and factors associated with DNA methylation. The aim is to understand the role of DNA methylation in the development of orofacial clefts and potentially find a genetic tool for early detection and prevention.

LncRNA Meg3-mediated regulation of the Smad pathway in atRA-induced cleft palate

Xiaozhuan Liu et al.

Summary: Treatment with all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) promotes the upregulation of Meg3 in mouse embryonic palate mesenchymal (MEPM) cells, leading to a suppression of cell proliferation potentially through interacting with Smad2 protein to inhibit Smad signaling.

Study on the role of methylation in nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate using a monozygotic twin model

Xuheng Shi et al.

Summary: The research investigated the impact of DNA methylation on the etiology of nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) by analyzing the methylation profiles of monozygotic twins with NSCL and NSCLP. The findings suggest that abnormal DNA methylation may influence the formation of clefts, with differential methylation sites identified in both twin pairs compared to healthy twins. GO and KEGG analysis highlighted signaling pathways and genes relevant to NSCL/P formation.

DNA Methylation Variation Is Identified in Monozygotic Twins Discordant for Non-syndromic Cleft Lip and Palate

Juan I. Young et al.

Summary: NSCLP is a common craniofacial birth defect with a complex etiology involving multiple genes and environmental factors. Studies suggest that differential methylation may be one mechanism contributing to NSCLP, highlighting the need for future research on the role of DNA methylation in both familial and sporadic cases.

MicroRNA-124-3p Plays a Crucial Role in Cleft Palate Induced by Retinoic Acid

Hiroki Yoshioka et al.

Summary: The study indicates that excess intake of all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) causes cleft palate in mice through the induction of miR-124-3p, while miR-27a-3p and miR-27b-3p do not significantly affect cell proliferation.

Loss of Wiz Function Affects Methylation Pattern in Palate Development and Leads to Cleft Palate

Ivana Bukova et al.

Summary: The study found that in the WIZ knockout mouse model, defective embryos exhibited abnormalities in multiple aspects during development, particularly in the craniofacial region, such as shorter snout, cleft palate, and cleft eyelids. These results suggest that WIZ plays an important role in craniofacial development.

LncRNA MEG3 Involved in NiO NPs-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis via Regulating TGF-β1-Mediated PI3K/AKT Pathway

Haibing Zhan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that NiO NPs induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats and collagen deposition in human lung adenocarcinoma epithelial cells. NiO NPs could down-regulate MEG3, up-regulate TGF-β1, and activate PI3K/AKT pathway. Furthermore, overexpressed MEG3 inhibited TGF-β1-mediated PI3K/AKT pathway, thus reducing collagen formation.
