Amine-functionalized ZSM-5-supported gold nanoparticles as a highly efficient catalyst for the reduction of p-Nitrophenol

Denanti Erika et al.

Summary: In this study, hybrid Au nanomaterial was used as a heterogeneous catalyst to transform the highly toxic p-nitrophenol (PNP) into a less harmful and useful compound, p-aminophenol (PAP). The results showed that using APTES as a support for Au nanoparticles (Au/APTES-ZSM-5) resulted in a more stable catalyst with a higher reaction rate compared to Au/ZSM-5. This research has important implications for addressing pollution in aquatic environments.

Comparative study on the interaction between transferrin and flavonols: Experimental and computational modeling approaches

Xiangrong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between transferrin and flavonols under physiological conditions using experimental and computational approaches. The results show that there is a static quenching mechanism between transferrin and flavonols with moderate affinity and binding constants ranging from 103-104 L/mol. The interaction is driven by both enthalpy and entropy, and the main force types involved include hydrophobic interaction, electrostatic force, and hydrogen bonds. These findings are important for understanding the potential and mechanism of flavonols as targeted cancer drugs.

Schiff base compounds as artificial metalloenzymes

Somaye Shahraki

Summary: Extensive research has been conducted on traditional homogeneous metal catalysts and enzymatic catalysts. However, a new type of hybrid catalyst called synthetic metalloenzymes has recently gained attention. Combining the properties of both homogeneous and enzymatic catalysts, metalloenzymes demonstrate added value such as enantioselectivity or chemo-selectivity. This review focuses on Schiff base complexes, which act as either homogeneous artificial enzymes or contribute to the structure of host in the preparation of hybrid metalloenzymes. The details of hybrid catalysts are crucial for advancements in catalysis, as this approach can be applied to various bio- or synthetic host and guest coordination complexes.
