Biogenic platinum-based bimetallic nanoparticles: Synthesis, characterization, antimicrobial activity and hydrogen evolution

Rozhin Darabi et al.

Summary: Platinum-based silver nanoparticles (Pt@Ag NPs) were synthesized using the green synthesis method and their catalytic effects on hydrogen production were investigated. The synthesized NPs were characterized using TEM, UV-Vis, XRD, and FTIR. The results showed that Pt@Ag NPs had an average size of 5.431 nm. The catalytic reaction for hydrogen production was accelerated as the concentrations of the substrate and catalysts increased, and hydrogen release increased. The use of Pt@Ag NPs in the hydrogen production process shows great promise for green energy studies due to its environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and low-cost nature.

Dual Cross-Linked Chitosan/PVA Hydrogels Containing Silver Nanoparticles with Antimicrobial Properties

Dana M. Suflet et al.

Summary: Stable chitosan/PVA-based hydrogels were obtained through a combination of covalent and physical cross-linking methods. The chemical structure and morphology of the hydrogel were analyzed, showing that gel fraction and network morphology were influenced by synthesis conditions. The hydrogels exhibited high swelling rate and low elastic modulus, making them suitable for medical applications; in situ generation of silver nanoparticles under UV irradiation enhanced the antimicrobial activity of chitosan.
