Tolypocladamide H and the Proposed Tolypocladamide NRPS in Tolypocladium Species

Summary: In this study, a novel peptide antibiotic, tolypocladamide H, was discovered, which exhibited antibacterial activity and toxicity to mammalian cells. Furthermore, homologous structures of tolypocladamide metabolites and the biosynthetic gene of this metabolite were identified.

Niveomyces (Cordycipitaceae) and Torrubiellomyces (Ophiocordycipitaceae), parasitic on the zombie ant fungus Ophiocordyceps camponoti-floridani

Summary: Two novel genera of parasitic fungi, Niveomyces and Torrubiellomyces, were discovered during a survey of Ophiocordyceps camponoti-floridani in central Florida. These fungi exclusively grow on and degrade the mycelium, stalks, and ascomata of O. camponoti-floridani, indicating their mycoparasitic nature. This study provides a starting point for further research on fungal interactions between mycopathogens and entomopathogens.

Pleurocordyceps gen. nov. for a clade of fungi previously included in Polycephalomyces based on molecular phylogeny and morphology

Summary: This study constructed a multigene phylogeny to test and refine the current phylogenetic framework of Cordyceps s. lat. and other clavicipitaceous fungi, revealing a new Pleurocordyceps/Polycephalomyces clade. A newly designated generic name Pleurocordyceps was introduced based on phylogenetic analyses and morphological characteristics, with relevant new combinations made. Additionally, a lectotype and an epitype for P. formosus were selected, and the circumscription of Polycephalomyces was discussed.
