Genital organ-associated lymphoid tissues arranged in a ring in the mucosa of cow vaginal vestibules

Tsolmon Chuluunbaatar et al.

Summary: This study describes mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-like structures in the reproductive tracts of cows. These structures function as immune gate systems and are similar to Waldeyer's pharyngeal ring.

Morphological and Phenotypic Characteristics of the Bovine Nasopharyngeal Mucosa and Associated Lymphoid Tissue

Haillie C. Meek et al.

Summary: The mammalian nasopharynx is a complex region of the respiratory tract that has important implications in the pathogenesis of diseases like foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and COVID-19 in humans. This study provides a detailed description of the morphology and cellular composition of the bovine nasopharynx, highlighting the presence of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) and regional variations in its distribution. The findings suggest that the bovine nasopharyngeal lymphoid tissue shares similarities with other MALTs but also has unique characteristics that may contribute to the understanding of infectious agents targeting this tissue.

The effect of bovine vaccines against respiratory viruses administered either intranasal or intramuscular on broncho-alveolar fluid cells of heifers

Patricia S. Rossi et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the commercial intranasal vaccine increased neutrophil cellularity and total IgA levels in bronchoalveolar fluid, with decreased oxidative metabolism at certain time points, while the intramuscular vaccine did not significantly alter immunoglobulins or cell oxidative metabolism. Both vaccines reduced the number of alveolar macrophages.
