Search for resonant and non-resonant Higgs boson pair production in the bbτ+τ- decay channel using 13TeV pp collision data from the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This study presents a search for Higgs boson pair production in events with two b-jets and two tau-leptons. The study is conducted using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC with a proton-proton collision dataset and an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1) at root s = 13TeV. The search targets non-resonant production as well as production via the decay of a narrow scalar resonance. The results show no significant excess of events above the expected background in the non-resonant search, while a significant excess is observed at a resonance mass of 1 TeV in the resonant search. Upper limits are set on the Higgs boson pair-production cross-section for both non-resonant and resonant cases.

Measurement of the c-jet mistagging efficiency in t(t)over-bar events using pp collision data at √s=13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This article presents a technique for measuring the efficiency of mistagging c-jets as b-jets. The measurement is based on t(t) over bar events and uses data collected by the ATLAS detector. The results show some differences in the region with the most stringent b-jet tagging requirement.

Search for Higgs Boson Pair Production in the Four b Quark Final State in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on searching for pairs of Higgs bosons produced via gluon and vector boson fusion, with a specific focus on the four b quark final state. The analysis is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected using the CMS detector at the LHC. No evidence is found for a deviation from the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits are set on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs, as well as on the modifiers of the Higgs field self-coupling and the coupling between two Higgs bosons and two vector bosons.

Search for Higgs boson pair production in the two bottom quarks plus two photons final state in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: Searches for nonresonant and resonant di-Higgs boson production are conducted in the b (b) over bar gamma gamma final state. Results show no excess above the expected background and set upper limits on the di-Higgs boson production cross sections. Constraints on the Higgs boson trilinear coupling modifier and limits on the cross section for resonant production of a new scalar particle are also determined.

Summary: Several improvements were made to the ATLAS triggers to enhance the identification of b-jets, resulting in better rejection of light-flavour jets while maintaining b-jet identification efficiency. The triggers were also successfully operated during heavy-ion data-taking for the first time, using dedicated triggers developed to identify semileptonic b-hadron decays.

Search for nonresonant Higgs boson pair production in final states with two bottom quarks and two photons in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. M. Sirunyan et al.

Summary: An experiment searching for nonresonant production of Higgs boson pairs through gluon-gluon and vector boson fusion processes showed no significant deviation from the background-only hypothesis. An upper limit at 95% confidence level was set for the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs, and constraints were placed on the trilinear Higgs boson self-coupling and the coupling between a pair of Higgs bosons and a pair of vector bosons.

Jet energy scale and resolution measured in proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: Jet energy scale and resolution measurements, along with associated uncertainties, were reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The study, involving different input types for jet reconstruction and calibration techniques, provided detailed insights into the energy scale and resolution of jets under high pile-up conditions. Systematic uncertainties in the jet energy scale and relative jet energy resolution were analyzed at various pT ranges, revealing the performance of the jets in late LHC Run 2.

Summary: This paper discusses the combination of usual renormalization and factorization scale uncertainties in Higgs-pair production via gluon fusion with the novel uncertainties from scheme and scale choices of the virtual top mass.
