Multifaceted interventions are likely to be more effective to increase adherence to the ventilator care bundle: A systematic review of strategies to improve care bundle compliance

Dejina Thapa et al.

Summary: Education, checklist, and audit feedback are the most common strategies to improve adherence to ventilator bundles and are probably effective. Multifaceted interventions are likely to be effective for consistent improvement in adherence. However, it remains uncertain whether improvements in adherence have positive outcomes on patients due to limited evidence.

Meta-Analysis of the Efficacy and Safety of Chlorhexidine for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Prevention in Mechanically Ventilated Patients

Weiying Dai et al.

Summary: This study examined the effectiveness and safety of chlorhexidine oral care in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) through meta-analysis. The findings suggest that oral care with chlorhexidine solution can reduce the incidence of VAP in patients on mechanical ventilation. High concentration (2%) or low concentration (0.02%, 0.12%, 0.2%) of chlorhexidine has a significant effect on preventing VAP.

Effect of ICU quality control indicators on VAP incidence rate and mortality: a retrospective study of 1267 hospitals in China

Xin Ding et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of ICU quality control indicators on the incidence rate and mortality of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in China in 2019. The results show that process factors are associated with mortality, while structural factors are not. The study highlights the importance improving process factors in the ICU.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors associated with survival in critically ill patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation in an intensive care unit at a tertiary-level hospital in Colombia. Results showed that age, diagnosis, infections, medication, and other factors all played a role in determining patient survival.
