Access site complications are uncommon with vascular closure devices or manual compression after lower extremity revascularization

Thomas W. Cheng et al.

Summary: Vascular closure devices (VCDs) are associated with lower rates of hematomas and complications compared to manual compression (MC) after peripheral vascular interventions (PVIs). Patients with obesity, diabetes, and end-stage renal disease were more likely to receive VCDs, while patients with conditions such as hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary artery disease, prior percutaneous coronary and extremity interventions, and major amputation were less likely to receive VCDs.
