Pyridine-M2+[M = Mg, Ca]: A promising organometallic system for potential hydrogen storage: In silico study

Mrinal Kanti Dash et al.

Summary: Pyridine-M2+ [M = Mg, Ca] hosts have been identified as potent H2 storage material. The study explores the adsorption of H2 molecules on pyridine-Mg2+ and pyridine-Ca2+ building blocks, and finds that the aromaticity remains after adsorption. The stability of the hosts is validated through chemical hardness, aromaticity, and molecular dynamic simulations. The adsorption of H2 molecules is mainly of quasi-molecular type, with a stable adsorption energy range.

Strategic Synthesis of 2D and 3D Conducting Polymers and Derived Nanocomposites

Munziya Abutalip et al.

Summary: In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in conducting polymers for their broad applications. However, the techniques for producing 2D nanosheets of conducting polymers are either complex or expensive, and a comprehensive approach for constructing 2D and 3D materials or their composites has not been documented. In this study, a simple and scalable synthetic protocol was developed to design 2D, 3D, and related conducting polymer nanocomposites. Diverse bicontinuous thin layers of oil and water were used to produce 2D nanosheets, and specially designed linkers were applied to lock the 3D networks of the conducting polymers and their composites. This technique is cost-effective and easily scalable, and it achieved the highest reported electrical conductivity for 2D PPY nanosheets to date.

Decarbonising Europe-EU citizens? perception of renewable energy transition amidst the European Green Deal

Demetrio Panarello et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 crisis has led to a reevaluation of energy transition, specifically in the EU where the Green Deal aims to achieve social goals through renewable energy and resource efficiency. However, the ongoing pandemic has affected the progress of this transition. This study examines the pre-pandemic perceptions of EU citizens regarding key factors in renewable energy transition and suggests important implications for energy policy modeling.

Multidimensional network of polypyrrole nanotubes loaded with ZIF-67 to construct multiple proton transport channels in composite proton exchange membranes for fuel cells

Jie Yang et al.

Summary: High-performance long-lasting composite proton exchange membranes (PEMs) are currently the subject of extensive research due to their designability of proton transport channels. The compatibility and channel order of the internal components of the composite membranes remain challenging. In this study, hollow polypyrrole (PPy) nanotube structures were used to confine and separate cobalt nanoparticles, and zeolitic imidazolate framework material-67 (ZIF-67) was attached to the surface to improve the proton transport capacity. The synthesized polymer nanotubes loaded metal-organic framework (MOF) nanofiber network enhances the physicochemical properties and stability of the membrane, and the composite membrane exhibits excellent ionic conductivity and power density.

High Crystalline Quality Conductive Polypyrrole Film Prepared by Interface Chemical Oxidation Polymerization Method

Yuefei Wang et al.

Summary: Polypyrrole films with large area and high crystalline quality have been successfully synthesized using an interfacial chemical oxidation method. The films exhibit sharp XRD diffraction peaks, indicating high degree of molecular chain order and excellent crystalline quality. The as prepared films have a conductivity of about 0.3 S/cm and a carrier mobility of about 5 cm(2)/(Vs). The method also allows for easy transfer of the films to other substrates.

Mechanically robust and conductive poly(acrylamide) nanocomposite hydrogel by the synergistic effect of vinyl hybrid silica nanoparticle and polypyrrole for human motion sensing

Kaichang Cheng et al.

Summary: Hydrogel-based sensors with improved mechanical and conductive properties were developed by using vinyl hybrid silica nanoparticle (VSNP) as crosslinker and in situ polymerized polypyrrole (PPy) as conductive agent. The resulting hydrogels showed enhanced tensile strength, elongation at break, compression strength, and conductivity. These hydrogels also exhibited excellent cyclic stretching and compression performance, making them promising candidates for strain sensors.
