Reliability of Field-Based Fitness Tests in Adults: A Systematic Review

Magdalena Cuenca-Garcia et al.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to examine the reliability of existing field-based fitness tests used in adults aged 19-64 years. The study found high reliability for cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal fitness tests, moderate reliability for some motor fitness tests, and limited evidence for balance and gait speed tests. More high-quality studies are needed to assess the reliability of specific tests.

Physical fitness is associated with better technical performance in adolescent alpine ski racers after controlling for practice time: A retrospective regression analysis

Brady S. DeCouto et al.

Summary: The study found that only aerobic capacity was significantly associated with more practice time, while tests on lower body power, anaerobic capacity, and upper body strength/endurance explained a small portion of the variance in ski performance.

Fitness Testing Parameters for Alpine Ski Racing

James J. Pritchard

Summary: Alpine ski racing requires athletes to have high levels of muscle activity, anaerobic endurance, aerobic power, and force production. Due to the technical nature of the sport, neuromuscular coordination is also crucial for success.

Influence of age and sex on drop jump landing strategies in elite youth soccer players

Simona Lucarno et al.

Summary: This study characterized knee biomechanics in a large cohort of youth soccer players stratified by sex and age. Landing kinetics and kinematics varied by age and sex, with differences observed in landing load asymmetry, peak push-off force, and knee varus. It was found that landing asymmetry tended to reduce in older players and knee varus increased in males after adolescence.
