Combined effects of S-metolachlor and benoxacor on embryo development in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

Sihong Liu et al.

Summary: This study assessed the combined toxicity of benoxacor and S-metolachlor in zebrafish embryo development and found that their mixture had an impact on embryo development, oxidative stress system, and cell apoptosis. Moreover, benoxacor had a greater effect on gene regulation. These findings are important for the risk assessment of herbicides and their safeners.

Microplastic-Induced Oxidative Stress in Metolachlor-Degrading Filamentous Fungus Trichoderma harzianum

Anna Jasinska et al.

Summary: This study describes the response of Trichoderma harzianum strain to low-density polyethylene (LDPE) microparticles, revealing that under certain conditions, microplastics can promote fungal biomass and metolachlor degradation, while also leading to increased cell membrane permeability and lipid peroxidation.

Distinct microplastic distributions in soils of different land-use types: A case study of Chinese farmlands

Jiao Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution characteristics of microplastics in different types of farmland in China, revealing that plastic mulching is a major contributor to microplastic pollution in agricultural lands. Different land uses showed variations in microplastic characteristics, with cereal crop farmlands more likely to contain fibrous shapes and large microplastic particles, while economically important tree lands were likely to contain fragment shapes and small microplastic particles.

Mechanisms and functions of membrane lipid remodeling in plants

Linhui Yu et al.

Summary: Lipid remodeling, defined as post-synthetic modifications of membrane lipids, plays a crucial role in regulating cellular membrane properties and functions. Processes affected by lipid remodeling include lipid metabolism, membrane repair, cellular homeostasis, fatty acid trafficking, cellular signaling, and stress tolerance. Recent research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of membrane lipid remodeling, particularly the enzymes involved in modifying major membrane lipids such as phosphatidylcholine and monogalactosyldiacylglycerol.

Trichoderma harzianum metabolites disturb Fusarium culmorum metabolism: Metabolomic and proteomic studies

Julia Mironenka et al.

Summary: Trichoderma species are known for producing secondary metabolites in response to different fungal pathogens, with the metabolites showing inhibitory effects on the growth of popular pathogen Fusarium culmorum. The presence of certain proteins in the culture extract indicated oxidative stress, leading to activation of defense mechanisms in the pathogen and a reduction in major mycotoxin production.
