Event-triggered adaptive disturbance rejection for marine surface vehicles with unknown and disturbances

Xin Hu et al.

Summary: This article proposes an event-triggered adaptive disturbance rejection scheme for marine surface vehicles with unknown model dynamics and external disturbances. By integrating the adaptive internal model principle, the disturbance rejection is transformed into an adaptive control problem. The adaptive laws and disturbance filter are used to estimate online disturbances. Adaptive neural backstepping is applied to derive the trajectory tracking control law. Leveraging the event-triggering mechanism can reduce thruster wear and tear. The event-triggered adaptive disturbance rejection control does not require prior knowledge of model dynamics and serves as a model-free disturbance estimation and rejection scheme. Theoretical analysis proves the semi-global stability of the closed-loop tracking control system with adjustable tracking error. Experimental results on a 1:70 scaled model CyberShip II validate the effectiveness of the control scheme.

Distributed prescribed-time leader-follower formation control of surface vehicles with unknowns and input saturation

Tingting Yang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a solution is proposed for the prescribed-time leader-follower formation control problem in surface vehicles (SVs) that suffer from input saturation and unknowns including uncertain dynamics and external disturbances. A distributed prescribed-time observer is introduced to estimate the states of the leader based on neighboring vehicles' information. The saturation errors and system unknowns are observed by a reduced-order prescribed-time estimator. Furthermore, a time scale transformation function based prescribed-time prescribed performance function is proposed to improve the transient performance of formation errors and satisfy formation error constraints.

A Novel Obstacle Avoidance Consensus Control for Multi-AUV Formation System

Linling Wang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a fixed-time event-triggered obstacle avoidance consensus control method for a multi-AUV time-varying formation system in a 3D environment, using an improved artificial potential field and leader-follower strategy (IAPF-LF). The proposed fixed-time control achieves the desired formation within a fixed settling time in any initial system state. An event-triggered communication strategy is developed to govern the communication among AUVs, reducing communication energy consumption. The time-varying formation obstacle avoidance control algorithm based on IAPF-LF avoids static and dynamic obstacles, maintains the desired formation in the presence of external disturbances, and ensures no Zeno behavior under the fixed-time event-triggered consensus control strategy.

Subpredictor approach for event-triggered control of discrete-time systems with input delays *

Frederic Mazenc et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new output event-triggered control design for linear discrete-time systems with constant arbitrarily long input delays, using delay compensating subpredictors. The input-to-state stability of the closed loop system is proven by employing framers and the theory of positive systems. A novel feature of this approach is the use of matrices of absolute values instead of Euclidean norms in the discrete-time event triggers for delay compensating control design. The approach is illustrated using a model of the BlueROV2 marine vehicle, where the new event triggers result in fewer control recomputation times compared to standard event triggers based on Euclidean norms, without sacrificing settling times or other performance metrics.
