Magnetic frequency mixing technological advances for the practical improvement of point-of-care testing

Tangan Li et al.

Summary: Nanomaterials, especially superparamagnetic nanomaterials, are playing essential roles in point-of-care testing due to their unique properties. Frequency mixing technology (FMT) is an emerging detection technique with high potential in biomedical quantitative detection. FMT sensors have advantages in robust, ultrasensitive biosensing but also face challenges in future development.

Simulation and improvements of a magnetic flux sensor for application in immunomagnetic biosensing platforms

Kan Wang et al.

Summary: A magnetic flux sensor was designed for immunomagnetic biosensing platforms in this study, with optimized structure and differential configuration strategy, successfully enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio of the sensor for sensitive quantification of biological materials. System performance demonstrated linearity when testing human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and gastrin-17 (G17), with detection limits of 0.0098 mIU/mL and 9.1016 pg/mL, respectively.

Development of Fast and Portable Frequency Magnetic Mixing-Based Serological SARS-CoV-2-Specific Antibody Detection Assay

Jan Pietschmann et al.

Summary: The emergence of novel coronavirus in China in December 2019 led to a global pandemic, where vaccination is expected to provide containment of the virus. To better detect antibodies, a novel and rapid serological magnetic immunodetection (MID) point-of-care (PoC) assay was developed, giving qualitative and semiquantitative results of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody levels in patient's sera within a short time.
