Graphene transfer methods: A review

Sami Ullah et al.

Summary: Graphene, a material with unique properties, has wide applications in electronics, catalysis, energy, and bio-related fields. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a key method for growing high-quality graphene on non-technological substrates, with efforts towards efficient transfer of the material onto technologically relevant materials. Various graphene transfer techniques are reviewed in terms of contamination control, structural integrity preservation, scalability, cost, and time-effectiveness in this article. Discussions are made on transfer challenges, alternative options, and future developments in graphene technology.

Wax-Transferred Hydrophobic CVD Graphene Enables Water-Resistant and Dendrite-Free Lithium Anode toward Long Cycle Li-Air Battery

Yong Ma et al.

Summary: A tactic for water-resistant Li anode by implementing a wax-assisted transfer protocol is reported, using a high-quality CVD graphene layer to passivate the Li surface. The graphene coating serves as an artificial SEI, guiding homogeneous Li plating/stripping and protecting the Li surface from moisture erosion. The passivated Li anodes demonstrate superb cycling performance in lithium-air batteries, showing excellent air and electrochemical stability.

Hydrogenated Graphene Improves Neuronal Network Maturation and Excitatory Transmission

Matteo Moschetta et al.

Summary: Hydrogenated graphene (HGr) enhances cell-to-cell communication in primary cortical neurons compared to pristine graphene, demonstrating higher wettability and relatively high electrical conductivity. Neurons plated onto HGr exhibit a dense network of excitatory synaptic connections, leading to a doubled miniature excitatory postsynaptic current frequency.
