Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Diplazium esculentum extract: catalytic reduction of methylene blue and antibacterial activities

Atieya Abdul Hadi et al.

Summary: A green approach using Diplazium esculentum aqueous extract as a green reductant was developed for the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles. The bio-stabilized AgNPs showed excellent catalytic activity and significant antibacterial capability against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Preparation of a multifunctional silver nanoparticles polylactic acid food packaging film using mango peel extract

Jun Cheng et al.

Summary: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared using mango peel extract (MPE) as the reducing agent and stabilizer, and a novel preservative film material was developed with polylactic acid (PLA) as the protective substrate. AgNPs exhibited excellent antibacterial properties, improved mechanical properties of the film, and enhanced barrier ability to water vapor and oxygen. The film also met safety standards in terms of silver migration and cytotoxicity, and significantly extended the shelf life of strawberries.
