Research on the maneuverability and path following control of the wave glider with a propeller-rudder system

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper establishes an 8-DOF mathematical model of WG with a propeller-rudder system, compares the performances of WG with propeller-rudder system and rudder system through numerical simulation, and verifies the correctness of the mathematical model through sea trial. In the environment of large current speed, a path following system based on Predictive Line-of-Sight (PLOS) is proposed to solve the problem of large cross-track error in the path following performance of WG with the rudder system. The simulation and sea trial show that PLOS path following system is feasible and effective.

Underactuated USV path following mechanism based on the cascade method

Mingzhen Lin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the path following control under disturbance for an underactuated unmanned surface vehicle (USV). By designing a variable look-ahead integral line-of-sight (LOS) guidance law and a cascade path following control system, and considering system delay and constraints, stable control was achieved.

Robust dynamic heading tracking control for wave gliders

Ying Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust dynamic heading tracking control method for wave gliders. The method combines a modified active disturbance rejection controller (MADRC) and an improved anti-windup (IAW) compensator, which significantly improves heading tracking accuracy in real time and controls appropriate actuator power consumption. A reduced-order extended state observer (RESO) is designed to estimate and compensate uncertain disturbance, and the IAW is applied to handle actuator saturation problem, further reducing convergence time and power consumption in heading control.

Experimental investigation of the effect of propeller characteristic parameters on propeller singing

Ying Wang et al.

Summary: This work investigates the effect of rotation speed and advance coefficient on propeller singing. The study quantifies propeller singing using spectrum variables and analyzes the acoustic signal under different test conditions. The results show that rotation speed has a substantial effect on singing features such as dominant frequencies and sound pressure level.

A dataset of hourly sea surface temperature from drifting buoys

Shane Elipot et al.

Summary: This dataset is generated from the temperature observations of surface drifting buoys of NOAA's Global Drifter Program. It provides estimates of sea surface temperature (SST) along drifter trajectories at regular hourly intervals, taking into account both diurnal and low-frequency variability. The dataset includes non-diurnal SST estimates, diurnal SST anomalies, and total SST along with their respective standard uncertainties.

Approach-angle-based three-dimensional indirect adaptive fuzzy path following of under-actuated AUV with input saturation

Jialei Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an approach-angle-based three-dimensional path-following control scheme for underactuated AUV, with designed control laws based on Lyapunov theory, backstepping technique, and fuzzy logic system approximation method. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control scheme are illustrated through comparative numerical simulations.

Event-Triggered H∞ Depth Control of Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles

Yazdan Batmani et al.

Summary: In this paper, a robust H-infinity depth tracking controller is designed for a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) using a novel event-triggered method. The communication rate between the controller and the ROV is reduced, and the effects of disturbance on system performance are attenuated. The stability of the ROV under the designed event-triggered controller is proved, and simulation results show that the proposed controller achieves zero error convergence between the ROV depth and its desired trajectory.
