One-step hydrothermal synthesis of CdxInyS(x+1.5y) for photocatalytic oxidation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2, 5-diformyl-furan under ambient conditions

Ming Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, Cd-rich CdxInyS(x+1.5y) catalysts with Cd:In ratios exceeding 1:2 were controllably synthesized, showing excellent photocatalytic performance in the oxidation of HMF to DFF. The CdS nanorods in the catalyst effectively promote the separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs and enable transboundary transfer of photogenerated carriers, indicating great potential of cadmium-indium sulfides as photocatalysts for biomass conversion under ambient conditions.

High interfacial charge separation in visible-light active Z- scheme g-C3N4/MoS2 heterojunction: Mechanism and degradation of sulfasalazine

Gaurav Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, a 2D/2D binary junction GCM, formed by combining graphitic-carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and molybdenum disulphide (MoS2), was synthesized and tested for the degradation of sulfasalazine (SUL) under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that GCM-30% exhibited high efficiency in degrading the antibiotic, surpassing the pristine g-C3N4 and MoS2, due to enhanced visible-light absorption, high charge carrier separation, and high redox ability.
