Antibacterial Activity of Green Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles Using Lawsonia inermis Against Common Pathogens from Urinary Tract Infection

Summary: This study focuses on the biological approach of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) using Egyptian henna leaves extracts and analysis of the prepared Ag-NPs. The components of the plant extracts were identified using gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-mass). The prepared Ag-NPs were characterized using UV-visible (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. The antibacterial activities of the Ag-NPs were examined and found to be effective against various microorganisms.

In vitro antimicrobial evaluation and in silico studies of coumarin derivatives tagged with pyrano-pyridine and pyrano-pyrimidine moieties as DNA gyrase inhibitors

Summary: This study synthesized several novel coumarin derivatives with antimicrobial activity and tested them against various bacteria and fungi. The results showed that most of the newly synthesized compounds exhibited moderate to high activity, with the top four compounds inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, interfering with cell division. In silico studies were also performed on the most active compounds, showing promising results.

The prepared nanoparticles were characterized and found to have an average size of 28.8 nm with a spherical shape. This research provides an effective approach to combating multi-drug resistant bacteria and resolving the multidrug resistance crisis.

Multifunctional properties of silver and gold nanoparticles synthesis by Fusarium pseudonygamai

Summary: The goal of this study was to investigate the antibacterial, antibiofilm, anticancer, and antioxidant potential of silver and gold nanoparticles synthesized using a new fungus strain. The results showed that the silver nanoparticles outperformed the gold nanoparticles in combating pathogenic microorganisms and the gold nanoparticles exhibited better antibiofilm activity. Additionally, both types of nanoparticles exhibited antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity against cancer cells.

Daphnia magna and Gammarus pulex, novel promising agents for biomedical and agricultural applications

Summary: Various studies have shown that using different types of Zooplankton biomasses as additional substances in fish diets is important. Additionally, the drainage water from fish cultures can be used in plant irrigation. This study collected and tested water flea Daphnia magna and Gammarus pulex biomasses for the first time, and found that they exhibited significant antibacterial and antifungal activities against several pathogenic microorganisms. Moreover, they also showed positive effects on the germination rate of Vicia faba seeds.
