New correlations for predicting convective heat transfer of single and multi-row heat exchangers employing staggered drop-shaped tubes

Rawad Deeb

Summary: In this paper, air-side correlations were developed to describe the thermal and hydrodynamic characteristics of a compact heat exchanger with drop-shaped tubes. The effects of tube row and Reynolds number on these characteristics were analyzed, and the results showed good agreement with existing literature. The study found that the Nusselt number increased with Reynolds number, while the friction factor decreased. An increase in tube row led to an increase in friction factor and a decrease in thermal-hydraulic performance. The findings provide valuable insights for future studies and designs of heat exchangers.
