Breast actinomycosis is a rare chronic infection characterized by external fistulas on the skin of the breasts. This article presents a clinical case of a 71-year-old female patient who experienced a hard tumor, intense pain, limited mobility of the left upper limb, and significant weight loss. The thoracic tomography report initially suspected a malignant breast neoplasm, but the pathology study revealed mammary actinomycosis.
Breast actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative infection characterized by the presence of external fistulas in the skin of the breasts. It is rare in this location and may be primary in the mammary gland or secondary to a lung condition. We present the clinical case of a 71-year-old female patient who presented a hard tumor that compromised the entire left breast, with intense pain as well as impossibility of mobility of the left upper limb, considerable weight loss; Thoracic tomography report led to suspicion of malignant neoplasm of the breast and the result of the pathology study was a mammary Actinomycosis. For which, we emphasize the importance of a high suspicion, diagnosis and treatment for its satisfactory prognosis.(c) 2023 SESPM. Published by Elsevier Espana, S.L.U. All rights reserved.
