Pressure-Induced Indirect-Direct Bandgap Transition of CsPbBr3 Single Crystal and Its Effect on Photoluminescence Quantum Yield

Junbo Gong et al.

Summary: Despite extensive research, the bandgap characteristics of lead halide perovskites are not well understood. By applying pressure to a CsPbBr3 single crystal and using first-principles calculations, researchers found that the bandgap nature becomes more direct at relatively low pressure, leading to a dramatic improvement in photoluminescence quantum yield. This work also demonstrates the ability of lead halide perovskites to induce a phase transition between direct and indirect bandgaps, providing a new framework for understanding the optoelectronic properties of these materials.

Pressure-Induced Perovskite-to-non-Perovskite Phase Transition in CsPbBr3

Agnieszka Noculak et al.

Summary: This study reports a phase transformation in bulk polycrystalline cesium lead bromide under hydrostatic pressure, leading to the formation of a one-dimensional polymorph with a wide bandgap and yellow luminescence. The transformation was verified through various spectroscopic techniques. No such phase transition was observed in colloidal CsPbBr3 nanocrystals.

Photoluminescence of Bound-Exciton Complexes and Assignment to Shallow Defects in Methylammonium/Formamidinium Lead Iodide Mixed Crystals

Adrian Francisco-Lopez et al.

Summary: A systematic study on mixed organic-cation lead iodide perovskite single crystals reveals the evolution of shallow-defect signatures observed at low temperatures in their photoluminescence spectra, which are related to the material's composition. The material becomes less prone to defect formation with increasing formamidinium content.

Frohlich interaction dominated by a single phonon mode in CsPbBr3

Claudiu M. Iaru et al.

Summary: By investigating the phonon spectrum, a dominant phonon mode in CsPbBr3 responsible for electron-phonon scattering was identified, and it was found that the strength of the Frohlich interaction is significantly higher due to carrier localization in colloidal perovskite nanocrystals.
