Genome-wide analysis of Catalase gene family reveal insights into abiotic stress response mechanism in Brassica juncea and B. rapa.

Deepika Verma et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors identified and characterized CAT family members in two oilseed Brassica species. They found differences in CAT-HEME binding affinity, suggesting different enzyme activities. Protein-protein interaction indicated a coordinated role in ROS scavenging mechanisms. The differential gene expression and enzyme activities of CATs suggested their crucial roles in major abiotic stresses faced by Brassica species. The findings provide a foundation for further functional validation and development of stress-tolerant crops.

Analysis of CAT Gene Family and Functional Identification of OsCAT3 in Rice

Wenxiang Jiang et al.

Summary: This study identified three CAT family genes in the rice genome and conducted a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. The results showed that OsCAT3 had the highest expression level and a significant ability to remove H2O2. The OsCAT3(crispr) plant exhibited stunted growth, low survival rate, small leaves with brown lesions, and reduced activities of CAT, POD, and SOD enzymes. Additionally, the microarray analysis revealed differential gene expressions primarily related to toxin metabolism and photosynthesis. This study laid the groundwork for further understanding of the function of the rice OsCAT gene.

Ecophysiological differences between five mangrove seedlings under heavy metal stress

Yue-Yue Zhou et al.

Summary: The study found that protein concentrations were significantly higher in Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Kandelia obovata, and Rhizophora stylosa under heavy metal stress conditions, while Avicennia marina had remarkably high MDA content. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) levels were significantly elevated in A. marina, A. corniculatum, and B. gymnorrhiza. Principal component analysis indicated that POD, SOD, and MDA were major indices for response to heavy metal stress, with A. marina demonstrating higher tolerance compared to other species.

Catalase (CAT) Gene Family in Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.): Genome-Wide Analysis, Identification, and Expression Pattern in Response to Multiple Hormones and Abiotic Stress Conditions

Ali Raza et al.

Summary: In this study, the CAT gene family in the rapeseed genome was comprehensively analyzed, identifying 14 BnCAT genes classified into four groups with distinct gene structures, conserved motifs, and responsive elements. Expression analysis revealed that several BnCAT genes showed significant upregulation in different tissues and under various stress conditions, providing valuable insights for future investigations on the CAT family genes in rapeseed.
