This study develops stealth coatings with Mg-Al layered double hydroxide films, which achieve the same color and spectrum as green vegetation and demonstrate excellent weather resistance. It provides new insights into the application of hyperspectral materials in biomimetic camouflage.
Most biomimetic stealth materials have difficulty in achieving the homochromatic and homospectral of green vegetation and therefore have low spectral similarity to green vegetation and are easily detected and identified by hyperspectral imaging techniques. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop homochromatic and homospectral bionic materials for the hyperspectral stealth. Based on the generation mechanism of spectral curves of green vegetation in the 400-2500 nm band, environmentally friendly functional fillers with excellent weather resistance and stealth coatings with Mg-Al layered double hydroxide films were prepared. The cosine value of the near-infrared spectrum of stealth coatings and plant leaves reached 0.997, achieving the same color and spectrum as the green vegetation. The spectral cosine values of the 30 days outdoor stealth coatings and green leaves can still reach 0.984, demonstrating excellent weather resistance. These stealth coatings provide new insights into the application of hyperspectral materials in biomimetic camouflage.
