Discovery of New Isotope 241U and Systematic High-Precision Atomic Mass Measurements of Neutron-Rich Pa-Pu Nuclei Produced via Multinucleon Transfer Reactions

T. Niwase et al.

Summary: The new isotope 241U was synthesized and systematic atomic mass measurements of nineteen neutron-rich Pa-Pu isotopes were performed in the multinucleon transfer reactions of the 238U + 198Pt system at the KISS facility. The present experimental results demonstrate the crucial role of the multinucleon transfer reactions for accessing unexplored neutron-rich actinide isotopes toward the N = 152 shell gap in this region of nuclides.

Summary: The KEK Isotope Separation System (KISS) has been used to produce neutron-rich platinum group isotopes, and the first experimental determinations of mu and delta < r(2)>(198,A) of Pt-200 and Pt-201 have been performed using mass-spectrometry-assisted in-gas-cell laser resonance ionization spectroscopy.

Ground-state β -decay spectroscopy of 187Ta

M. Mukai et al.

Summary: Beta-decay spectroscopy of the Ta-187 ground state was performed, and the beta-decay branching ratio and log(ft) values were evaluated for the first time. The spin-parity values of I-pi = 7/2(+) were determined with high confidence, consistent with the systematics of neighboring odd-A nuclides.

Beta decay of the axially asymmetric ground state of 192Re

H. Watanabe et al.

Summary: The beta decay of Re-192(75)117 was investigated using the KEK Isotope Separation System, marking the first successful extraction of a low-energy beam of rhenium isotopes from an argon gas-stopping cell via a laser-ionization technique. The ground state of Re-192 was determined to have J(pi) = (0(-)), and the shape transition in Re isotopes was discussed using the nuclear Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model based on single-particle structure.

First direct observation of isomeric decay in neutron-rich odd-odd 186Ta

Y. X. Watanabe et al.

Summary: Investigation was conducted on rays associated with an isomeric state of Ta-186, produced in multinucleon transfer reactions and separated by the KEK Isotope Separation System. Two transitions related to isomeric decay were observed for the first time, with deduced half-life of the isomeric state. A decay scheme of Ta-186m was proposed based on previous measurements and angular momentum coupling in odd-odd nuclei.

β-γ spectroscopy of the 195Os nucleus

M. Ahmed et al.

Summary: The beta-gamma spectroscopy experiment of Os-195 nucleus was conducted at the KEK isotope separation system, where the radioactive isotope was produced by multinucleon transfer reactions. A total of 27 gamma-ray peaks were observed, with 21 identified as beta-delayed gamma rays of the Os-195 ground state. The beta-decay branching ratios and half-life of the Os-195 ground state were determined, showing agreement with previous studies.
