The Influence of Supercooling and Hydrodynamics on the Mosaic and Radial Inhomogeneity of K2NiXCo(1-X)(SO4)2•6H2O Mixed Crystal

Summary: The study focused on the mosaic and radial inhomogeneity of shaped mixed crystals of K2NixCo(1-x)(SO4)(2)&BULL;6H(2)O (KCNSH), and found that these factors depend on solution supercooling, speed, and method of supply. It was shown that when the solution is supercooled to about 2°C, mosaic inhomogeneity can be suppressed. Peripheral supply of the solution with a rate of 55-135 cm/s, creating a swirling flow, provides better composition uniformity along the crystal surface compared to upright supply.

Influence of Growth Conditions on Mechanical Properties of K2NiXCo(1-X) (SO4)2•6H2O Crystals

Summary: The mixed crystal KCNSH shows high transparency in the ultraviolet range and effective suppression of the visible spectral region. By studying inhomogeneities and crack resistance, the best growth conditions for KCNSH crystals were determined, including using the temperature difference technique and peripheral solution supply.
