Dual-resonance sensing for environmental refractive index based on quasi-BIC states in all-dielectric metasurface

Wenjie Chen et al.

Summary: We proposed an all-dielectric metasurface for environmental refractive index sensing based on quasi-BIC, which has enhanced stability, an enlarged detection range, a high Q factor, and relatively high sensitivity. Dual-resonance sensing is achieved with this metasurface, where the interval between the two resonance peaks decreases nearly linearly with the environmental refractive index. Experimental results demonstrate minimized errors caused by environmental and instrumental fluctuations and improved stability. This metasurface holds great potential for applications in refractive index sensing, concentration detection, biomacromolecule identification, and cancerous cell screening.

Planar wide-angle-imaging camera enabled by metalens array

Ji Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a planar camera with a silicon nitride metalens array is proposed for wide-angle imaging, achieving a large viewing angle with minimal distortion or aberrations. Achromatic and wide field of view metalens based on the harmonic diffraction and a quadratic phase

Hongli YU et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a harmonic metalens that achieves wide field of view imaging and achromatic imaging using a quadratic phase profile. The research quantitatively explains the mechanism behind the wide field of view imaging enabled by the quadratic phase and derives the complex-amplitude transmittance formula of a harmonic metalens. By combining harmonic diffraction and quadratic phase, an achromatic wide field of view metalens is proposed, enabling achromatic imaging at specific wavelengths.

Broadband behavior of quadratic metalenses with a wide field of view

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: Metalenses are a promising technology for implementing complex optical functionalities in planar and compact devices. This study investigates the broadband behavior of metalenses based on quadratic phase profiles. The results show that these metalenses have a large field of view and are tolerant to longitudinal and transverse chromatic aberrations. A single-layer silicon metalens with a field of view of 86 degrees and a bandwidth up to 140 nm operating at both 1300 nm and 1550 nm telecommunication wavelength bands is demonstrated.
