Coordinating single-cell and bulk RNA-seq in deciphering the intratumoral immune landscape and prognostic stratification of prostate cancer patients

Zhou Sun et al.

Summary: This study reveals the association of histone modifiers with the development of prostate cancer and identifies YWHAH as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker for prostate cancer. A risk model based on four prognostic marker genes is established with high predictive potency. These findings provide novel insights and open up new avenues for customized treatment alternatives for prostate cancer.

Gut microbiota-derived short-chain fatty acids promote prostate cancer progression via inducing cancer cell autophagy and M2 macrophage polarization

Yufei Liu et al.

Summary: We found that CRPC gut microbiota-derived SCFAs promoted PCa progression via inducing cancer cell autophagy and M2 macrophage polarization. CCL20 could become a biomarker for prediction of prognosis in PCa patients. Intervention of SCFAs-producing microbiotas may be a useful strategy in manipulation of CRPC.

Large-Scale Single-Cell and Bulk Sequencing Analyses Reveal the Prognostic Value and Immune Aspects of CD147 in Pan-Cancer

Jingwei Zhang et al.

Summary: CD147 plays an important role in promoting tumor proliferation and inhibiting cancer cell apoptosis in the tumor microenvironment. The study reveals the prognostic value and immune characteristics of CD147 in multiple cancer types. In addition, the study explores the expression of CD147 on different cell types in the tumor microenvironment and identifies potential therapeutic strategies for tumor immunotherapy based on CD147.

Immune cell infiltration features and related marker genes in lung cancer based on single-cell RNA-seq

R. Zhong et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the immune cell infiltration features and related marker genes for lung cancer using single-cell RNA sequencing data. The results showed significantly higher fractions of naive B cells, memory CD4 + T cells in lung cancer tissues, while lower fractions of resting NK cells, monocytes were observed in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Identification of a novel therapeutic candidate, NRK, in primary cancer-associated fibroblasts of lung adenocarcinoma microenvironment

Tongtong Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, NRK was found to be significantly elevated in LUAD-associated CAFs and may serve as a promising therapeutic target for cancer combination treatment. Modulation of ECM and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathways could be an efficient approach to alter CAFs functionality in LUAD.

Immune Resistance in Lung Adenocarcinoma

Magda Spella et al.

Summary: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the major subtype of lung cancer and presents challenges due to its ability to resist immune defenses. Current immunotherapies aim to overcome this resistance, but personalized immunotherapies may be necessary for more effective treatment.

Changing profiles of cancer burden worldwide and in China: a secondary analysis of the global cancer statistics 2020

Wei Cao et al.

Summary: This study summarized the recent changing profiles of cancer burden worldwide and in China, revealing that breast cancer became the most diagnosed cancer globally in 2020. China accounted for 24% of newly diagnosed cases and 30% of cancer-related deaths worldwide in 2020, with a high cancer mortality rate.

Fangdie Ye et al.

Summary: This study identified three DNA methylation modes in 985 bladder cancer samples, which are associated with diverse clinical outcomes and immune microenvironment phenotypes. Patients with low DMRscores showed a significant survival advantage correlated to the immune-inflamed phenotype.

Decoding the multicellular ecosystem of lung adenocarcinoma manifested as pulmonary subsolid nodules by single-cell RNA sequencing

Xudong Xing et al.

Summary: This study provides single-cell transcriptomic profiling of SSN and their TME, revealing that cytotoxic natural killer/I cells dominate the TME of SSN, and malignant cells in SSN undergo metabolic reprogramming and immune stress. Furthermore, the subtype composition of endothelial cells in SSN is similar to that in mLUAD, while the subtype distribution of fibroblasts is more like that in nLung.
