Summary: The study found that mothers with higher depressive symptoms were more likely to dampen their own positive events and less likely to savor their own and their children's positive events. These mothers also reported less positive affect in response to their own and their children's positive events.

Therefore, school-based health practitioners should be aware of the potential impact of friendships on negative health outcomes for bullied adolescents and further replication of friendship buffering effects is essential for guiding school-based bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
