Comprehensive assessment of pollution indices, sources apportionment and ecological risk mapping of heavy metals in agricultural soils of Raebareli District, Uttar Pradesh, India, employing a GIS approach

Ajay Neeraj et al.

Summary: This study investigates the pollution status of heavy metals in agricultural soils in the Raebareli district, finding varying degrees of contamination at different sites, with the Uchahaar site being the most polluted and the Bacharawa site being the least contaminated. The results indicate that the northern part of Raebareli bears a high pollution load and ecological risk in terms of heavy metal pollution. This study provides valuable information for policymakers to develop appropriate plans to control pollution within the agricultural sector.

One-step functionalization of chitosan using EDTA: Kinetics and isotherms modeling for multiple heavy metals adsorption and their mechanism

Monu Verma et al.

Summary: In this study, a polymer composite adsorbent (CS-EDTA) was developed by immobilizing ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) onto chitosan (CS) for the removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater. The adsorbent exhibited high adsorption capacity and fast adsorption kinetics for multiple heavy metals, and it also showed good stability and reusability. The adsorbent demonstrated excellent removal efficiency in real industrial wastewater.

Self Standing Mats of Blended Polyaniline Produced by Electrospinning

Antonio Fotia et al.

Summary: Nanofibers of PANI doped with HCSA and blended with polymers like PMMA and PVAc were fabricated using electrospinning. SEM and TGA were used to characterize the morphology and thermal stability, and an extensive study was conducted to understand copolymer influence on film properties. PVAc copolymer showed significantly higher conductivity than the PMMA system. Hybrid fibers based on PANI/PVAc/graphene oxide and PANI/PVAc/iron oxide were also produced and characterized to improve electrochemical features. The obtained mats have potential applications in sensors, health, smart devices, and multifunctional textile materials.

Role of EDTA capped cobalt oxide nanomaterial in photocatalytic degradation of dyes

Meena Singh et al.

Summary: Dyes released from textile, paint, and various other industries in wastewater have long-term environmental damage. Functional nanomaterials, such as EDTA capped cobalt oxide, show promise for rapid and efficient removal of dyes like MG and CV. The prepared nanomaterial exhibits better photocatalytic degradation and follows pseudo-first order kinetics.
