Evaluation of the Analgesic Effect of High-Cannabidiol-Content Cannabis Extracts in Different Pain Models by Using Polymeric Micelles as Vehicles

Yoreny Roman-Vargas et al.

Summary: Currently, cannabis, particularly cannabidiol (CBD), is seen as a promising option for treating various diseases, including pain management. This study aimed to evaluate the analgesic effect of a CBD-rich cannabis extract encapsulated in polymeric micelles. The results showed that orally administered CBD/PMs were safe and more effective in relieving pain compared to nonencapsulated CBD extract. The micelle formulation demonstrated significant analgesic activity in a chemical pain model, making it a promising therapeutic option for pain management.

THC, CBD, and Anxiety: a Review of Recent Findings on the Anxiolytic and Anxiogenic Effects of Cannabis' Primary Cannabinoids

Sarah D. Lichenstein

Summary: In the context of cannabis decriminalization and legalization, understanding the impact of THC and CBD on anxiety is crucial for assessing the risks of recreational cannabis use and exploring the therapeutic potential of cannabis products for anxiety. Current research suggests that THC administration can have anxiety-inducing effects, although these effects may be attenuated in regular cannabis users. Studies on the anxiolytic effects of CBD have shown mixed results, with newer studies contradicting earlier findings. Future research is needed to address inconsistent findings, examine sex differences in the effects of THC and CBD on anxiety, explore the impact of extended exposure, different CBD doses, and interactions between THC, CBD, and other cannabis compounds.

The Effects of Cannabinoids on Pro- and Anti-Inflammatory Cytokines: A Systematic Review of In Vivo Studies

Frances R. Henshaw et al.

Summary: Through the study, it was found that CBD, CBG, and CBD+THC combination have anti-inflammatory effects in vivo, whereas THC alone does not reduce pro-inflammatory or increase anti-inflammatory cytokines. This information could be used to guide human clinical trials of cannabinoids, focusing on CBD and CBG to reduce inflammation across a range of pathophysiological processes.
