Two-step doping of SiO2 and CaO for high-frequency MnZn power ferrites

Jiafeng Xu et al.

Summary: SiO2 and CaO are effective co-doping oxides for low-loss MnZn soft ferrites, but the synergistic effect is not well understood. In this study, the effect of SiO2 and CaO was investigated, and a two-step doping strategy for high-frequency MnZn ferrites was proposed. SiO2 facilitated the formation of mono-domain grains, reducing residual loss at high frequency. CaO dissolved into the ferrite matrix, improving resistivity but leading to abnormal growth of grains. Coating MnZn particles with SiO2 effectively suppressed the reaction between CaO and the ferrite matrix, resulting in the formation of a continuous calcium silicate grain boundary phase. This strategy achieved superior high-frequency performance desired by miniaturized electronic devices.

Influence of MnZn Ferrite Homogeneous Fibers on the Microstructure, Magnetic, and Mechanical Properties of MnZn Ferrite Materials

Yajing Shang et al.

Summary: MnZn ferrite homogeneous fibers were synthesized and used as reinforcing phase in MnZn ferrite materials. The doping of homogeneous fibers significantly affected the microstructure, magnetic, and mechanical properties of the materials. The addition of a certain content of homogeneous fibers resulted in more uniform and compact crystal structures, lower porosity, and fewer grain boundaries, leading to improved magnetic and mechanical properties. The best properties were obtained with a fiber content of about 2%.

Particles size-dependent magnetic properties of a FeSiAl soft magnetic composite with hybrid insulating coating for MHz applications

Wanjia Li et al.

Summary: In this study, water-soluble silicone resin modified spherical-FeSiAl soft magnetic composites with different particle sizes were prepared and their effects on permeability, magnetic loss, and DC bias were investigated. The results show that smaller particle sizes lead to a decrease in domain wall resonance and an increase in spin rotation, while larger particles exhibit multi-domain behavior that restricts low-frequency permeability. Two stages with different loss mechanisms were observed, and the sudden increase in loss near 70 kHz is attributed to the insulation coating short circuiting at high frequency due to space charge polarization. Electrochemical analysis confirmed the insulation of this soft magnetic composite, which may have implications for the development of MHz frequency semiconductor power devices.

Preparation of Densified Fine-Grain High-Frequency MnZn Ferrite Using the Cold Sintering Process

Yao Ying et al.

Summary: Densified MnZn ferrite ceramics were prepared using the cold sintering process under pressure, with an acetate ethanol solution used as the transient solvent. The effects of the transient solvent, pressure, and annealing temperature on the density, micromorphology, and magnetic properties of the sintered MnZn ferrites were studied. The cold sintering process, along with the transient solvent and high pressure, is crucial for achieving densified MnZn ferrite. Additionally, the annealing treatment is necessary to increase the density further and reduce power loss at high frequencies.

Summary: A mathematical model has been proposed in this study to fit the measured magnetic permeability spectra of Cu-doped nickel-zinc polycrystalline ferrites, with a range of average grain sizes and relative densities. For the first time, domain-wall motion and spin rotation contributions to magnetic permeability have been integrated with microstructure in the model, highlighting their relative influences at different angular frequencies.

Summary: In this study, low-power-loss Mn-Zn ferrite was prepared using traditional ceramic sintering process. The sample exhibited good wide-temperature stability of power loss. The effect of uniaxial compressive stress on power loss at different frequencies was investigated, and the mechanism behind the stress-induced power loss was clarified. Influence of microstructure optimization on magnetic and thermal properties of MnZn ferrite

Fan Luo et al.

Summary: The industrial preparation of high magnetic permeability and low magnetic loss MnZn ferrite involved extrusion with a large aspect ratio using a three-phase asynchronous machine, followed by high-temperature sintering in a tube furnace. Increasing sintering temperature and oxygen partial pressure initially improved effective permeability and quality factor of the MnZn ferrite, reaching optimal values at 1260 degrees C and 3% oxygen partial pressure, respectively. The thermal conductivity showed a parabolic trend with oxygen partial pressure, peaking at 3%, while total magnetic loss exhibited a valley bottom temperature that shifted to higher values with increased oxygen partial pressure. MnZn ferrite prepared with 3% oxygen partial pressure demonstrated the lowest total loss at 90 degrees C.
