SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-induced antibody and T cell response in SARS-CoV-1 survivors

Li -Jun Duan et al.

Summary: Vaccination with Ad5-nCoV in SARS-CoV-1 survivors enhances antibody response against SARS-CoV-1 but has limited neutralizing antibody activity against SARS-CoV-2 variants, particularly the Omicron subvariants. However, the T cell response to SARS-CoV-2 is comparable between Ad5-nCoV immunized SARS-CoV-1 survivors and Ad5-nCoV immunized naive healthy individuals, while immunized SARS-CoV-1 survivors exhibit a robust cross-reactive T cell response to SARS-CoV-1.

An alternative to airborne droplet transmission route of SARS-CoV-2, the feco-oral route, as a factor shaping COVID-19 pandemic

Ryszard Targonski et al.

Summary: The Chinese scenario of COVID-19, with a rapid increase in infections followed by a sudden decline, is uncommon globally. The severity of COVID-19 varies greatly among different countries, and it is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, inflammatory response, and prognosis. It has been observed that SARS-CoV-2 can be present in the gastrointestinal tract for a longer time than in respiratory swabs, which may contribute to feco-oral transmission and milder virus attenuation.
