SCORE2-Diabetes: 10-year cardiovascular risk estimation in type 2 diabetes in Europe

Lisa Pennells et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and validate a recalibrated prediction model (SCORE2-Diabetes) for estimating the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in individuals with type 2 diabetes in Europe. The model showed good discrimination and improvement over previous models, with risk predictions varying based on individuals' diabetes-related factors. SCORE2-Diabetes enhances the identification of individuals at higher risk of CVD in Europe.

Statin Use for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Adults US Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement

Carol M. Mangione et al.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and death in the US. For adults aged 40 to 75 years with no history of CVD but with one or more CVD risk factors, statin use has at least a moderate net benefit in reducing CVD events and all-cause mortality. However, there is insufficient evidence to assess the benefits and harms of statin use for primary prevention of CVD in adults aged 76 years or older.

Population-Based Recalibration of the Framingham Risk Score and Pooled Cohort Equations

Maneesh Sud et al.

Summary: The study aimed to improve risk stratification for statin therapy by recalibrating the Framingham Risk Score and Pooled Cohort Equations using contemporary population-level data. The findings showed that recalibrating the FRS reduced overestimation of risk and improved utilization of statins, while recalibrating the PCEs did not improve the accuracy of risk estimation.

SCORE2 risk prediction algorithms: new models to estimate 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease in Europe

Steven Hageman et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop, validate, and demonstrate an updated prediction model (SCORE2) to estimate 10-year cardiovascular disease risk in individuals without previous history of CVD or diabetes in Europe. The new algorithm, SCORE2, enhances the identification of individuals at higher risk of developing CVD across Europe by predicting first-onset CVD risk in European populations.

SCORE2-OP risk prediction algorithms: estimating incident cardiovascular event risk in older persons in four geographical risk regions

Tamar de Vries et al.

Summary: The study developed and validated the SCORE2-OP risk model for estimating 5- and 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in individuals aged over 70 years in four geographical regions. The models took into account various risk factors, were recalibrated to each region, and showed significant variation in CVD event risk across the four risk regions for different risk factor profiles.
