Enhanced Thermoelectric Performance and Mechanical Property in Layered Chalcostibite CuSb1-XPbXSe2

Manojkumar Moorthy et al.

Summary: In this work, the authors studied the thermoelectric properties of p-type layered chalcostibite CuSb1-xPbxSe2 (x = 0-0.10) compounds prepared by vacuum melting reaction and uniaxial hot press in the temperature range of 323-623 K. The introduction of aliovalent Pb2+ doping at Sb3+ site significantly increased the hole concentration and enhanced the electrical conductivity. Moreover, the total thermal conductivity was greatly reduced, leading to a threefold increase in the thermoelectric figure of merit, zT, for the composition of CuSb0.90Pb0.10Se2 at 623 K compared to undoped CuSbSe2. Additionally, the material exhibited a high hardness value, indicating its potential as an efficient thermoelectric material for intermediate temperature.

Ultralow Thermal Conductivity and Enhanced Figure of Merit for CuSbSe2 via Cd-Doping

Tao Chen et al.

Summary: The thermoelectric properties of CuSb1-xCdxSe2 compounds were studied, with Cd doping leading to a significant increase in the Seebeck coefficient and decrease in lattice thermal conductivity. The enhancement in thermopower is attributed to an increase in electronic density of states, while the decrease in thermal conductivity is due to enhanced phonon scattering by introduced impurity atoms. The substitution of Cd is shown to be a feasible way to improve the thermoelectric performance of the CuSbSe2-based system.

Enhanced atomic ordering leads to high thermoelectric performance in AgSbTe2

Subhajit Roychowdhury et al.

Summary: By optimizing atomic disorder and cadmium doping in polycrystalline silver antimony telluride, high thermoelectric performance with near room-temperature figure of merit ZT of around 1.5 and maximum ZT of around 2.6 at 573 kelvin is achieved. This strategy of enhancing cationic ordering while reducing lattice thermal conductivity is applicable to most thermoelectric materials with inherent atomic disorder.

Boosting Thermoelectric Performance of Cu2SnSe3 via Comprehensive Band Structure Regulation and Intensified Phonon Scattering by Multidimensional Defects

Hongwei Ming et al.

Summary: Improved thermoelectric performance of Cu2SnSe3 was achieved by doping In and S, leading to significant reduction in resistivity and enhancement of thermopower at room temperature, resulting in increased power factor. Additionally, lattice thermal conductivity was effectively reduced by inducing multidimensional defects, resulting in a record high figure of merit of ZT = 1.51 at 858 K for the doped sample.
