A nexus of income inequality and natural resource utilization efficiency: Effect on the road to green economic recovery

Zhen Liu et al.

Summary: Although China possesses abundant natural resources, their utilization efficiency is low. This study examines the impact of income inequality on natural resource utilization efficiency using panel data from 30 provinces in China. The results suggest that income inequality negatively affects natural resource utilization efficiency, particularly in terms of green innovation and natural resource endowment. However, green fiscal policy and industrial agglomeration can mitigate this negative impact. Furthermore, with technological progress, the negative impact of income inequality on natural resource utilization efficiency transforms into a positive.
