Pyrethroid insecticides in urban catch basins: A potential secondary contamination source for urban aquatic systems

Nathan D. Sy et al.

Summary: Pesticide contamination is a threat to aquatic habitats, and runoff from residential homes contributes to this pollution in urban surface waters. This study found detectable levels of widely used pyrethroid insecticides in underground urban catch basins, suggesting that these basins may be an important secondary source of pesticide contamination in urban areas.
