A review of artificial fish swarm algorithms: recent advances and applications

Farhad Pourpanah et al.

Summary: The Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is a Swarm Intelligence (SI) methodology inspired by the ecological behaviors of fish schooling. It has been widely used for solving real-world optimization problems due to its flexibility, fast convergence, and insensitivity to initial parameter settings. This paper provides a concise review of continuous AFSA and its improvements, hybrid models, and applications. It also discusses parameter modifications, procedure, and sub-functions of AFSA, along with the reasons for enhancements and comparison results with other methods. Furthermore, hybrid, multi-objective, and dynamic AFSA models for continuous optimization problems are analyzed, and future research directions for advancing AFSA-based models are highlighted.

On characterization of cohesive zone model (CZM) based upon digital image correlation (DIC) method

Xintao Huo et al.

Summary: The cohesive zone model (CZM) is widely used in numerical simulations of interfacial fracture behaviors. This paper aimed to accurately identify CZM parameters through experimental measurement and to derive the traction-separation law using the digital image correlation (DIC) technique. By testing DCB specimens with a ductile adhesive layer, the study successfully verified the effectiveness of the proposed method for extracting the traction-separation law and achieving accurate simulation of adhesive joints.

Effects of loading rate, temperature, and thickness on the tensile strength of precision adhesive joints

Lei Guo et al.

Summary: The influences of micron bondline thickness, temperature, and loading rate on the tensile strength of adhesive joints in precision adhesive structures were studied. The results showed that the tensile strength initially increased and then linearly decreased with bondline thickness, with the peak strength occurring at a thickness of approximately 30 μm. The maximum tensile strength increased by 28.6% as thickness increased from 10 to 30 μm at a loading rate of 1 mm/min. The tensile strength decreased by more than 33% at different bondline thicknesses as temperature increased from -30 to 110 degrees C. Reducing bondline thickness to less than 10 μm resulted in a weak bonding interface. The tensile strength increased with loading rate, exhibiting a strain-rate hardening effect below the T-g. The plastic-damage characteristic became clearer on the fractured surface as temperature increased.
