A Sliding Mode based Finite-Time Consensus Protocol for Heterogeneous Multi Agent UAS

Madhumita Pal

Summary: This paper presents a finite-time consensus algorithm for a connected network of heterogeneous unmanned aerial vehicles subjected to wind disturbances. The algorithm utilizes sliding mode control and graph algebraic theory to achieve consensus, while an independent tracking controller ensures robust trajectory following for each agent. The stability of the agents is decoupled from the distributed consensus algorithm. It is proven that the measurement vectors of the heterogeneous agents converge to the agreement value in finite time. Comparison results with recent work demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm.

Summary: This article introduces the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in various domains and highlights the limitations in computation and energy resources that hinder their development. It proposes the use of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) as a promising platform to improve the Quality-of-Service (QoS) by offloading tasks from UAVs. The article formulates the task scheduling problem and presents an incentive-based request scheduling algorithm. Experimental results show that this algorithm reduces the total completion time for all tasks compared to the state-of-the-art solution.
