Allyl isothiocyanate inhibits invasion and angiogenesis in breast cancer via EGFR-mediated JAK-1/STAT-3 signaling pathway

Thangarasu Rajakumar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) on the JAK-1/STAT-3 pathway in DMBA-induced rat mammary tumorigenesis. The results showed that AITC treatment reduced body weight loss and decreased the total number of tumors, tumor incidence, and tumor volume in DMBA-induced rats. Additionally, AITC normalized the accumulation of collagen in mammary tissues, inhibited angiogenesis and invasion, and modulated the expression of angiogenic and invasive markers.

Traditional Chinese Medicines as Effective Reversals of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition Induced-Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer: Molecular Targets and Mechanisms

Hongzhang Ge et al.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer worldwide, and metastasis is the main cause of death in patients. Traditional Chinese medicines have the potential to inhibit invasion and metastasis of cancer cells by targeting signaling pathways, making them a promising therapeutic strategy for metastatic colorectal cancer.

EMT, cancer stem cells and autophagy; The three main axes of metastasis

Ghader Babaei et al.

Summary: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and Cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) are major factors contributing to cancer cell metastasis. Autophagy has recently gained attention, playing a dual role in cancer cell development depending on cancer type, tissue, and stage. Studies show different signaling pathways are involved in cancer stem cells, autophagy, and EMT. Investigating effective signaling pathways in all three processes could help determine appropriate therapeutic goals.

Cancer drug resistance induced by EMT: novel therapeutic strategies

Javier De las Rivas et al.

Summary: This review explores the important clinical benefits achieved in cancer patients through drug-targeting strategies, but drug resistance remains a major issue. The impact of epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity and tumor microenvironment on treatment effectiveness is discussed, along with the use of bioinformatics and pharmacogenomics to study the biological effects of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition on drug resistance and develop novel pharmacological approaches in the future.
