Naked-eye observation of water-forming reaction on palladium etalon: transduction of gas-matter reaction into light-matter interaction

Jongsu Lee et al.

Summary: Palladium is widely used in gas storage, purification, detection, and catalysis due to its unique characteristics. In this study, the interaction between hydrogen and palladium is visualized using a metal-dielectric-metal structure called Fabry-Perot etalon. The etalon displays color changes based on water formation trends, providing a platform for monitoring heterogeneous catalysis.

Frequency selective fingerprint sensor: the Terahertz unity platform for broadband chiral enantiomers multiplexed signals and narrowband molecular AIT enhancement

Jiaming Lv et al.

Summary: This study proposes a frequency-selective fingerprint sensor that achieves enhanced trace fingerprint detection through broadband multiplexing technology and robust absorption induced transparency (AIT) identification. Experimental results demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of the sensor, which has potential applications for boosting trace chiral enantiomer detection as well as diversity of molecular fingerprints identification.

Regulating evaporation of a water nanofilm by applying a terahertz alternating electric field

Jianzhuo Zhu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the evaporation of a water nanofilm can be regulated by applying an alternating electric field (AEF) using molecular dynamics simulations. The resonant absorption of the AEF increases the evaporation rate of the water film, while a different AEF frequency and polarization direction decrease the evaporation rate. The findings suggest that the properties of nanoscaled water, such as wettability, can be tuned by applying an AEF.

Gas separation performance of copolymers of perfluoro(butenyl vinyl ether) and perfluoro(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxole)

Moataz Ali El-Okazy et al.

Summary: Amorphous glassy perfluorinated polymers possess high gas permeability, chemical inertness, thermal stability, and superior separation performance, particularly when copolymerized with perfluoro(butenyl vinyl ether) (PBVE) and perfluoro(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxole) (PDD) at different ratios. Higher PBVE content results in lower gas permeability and higher selectivity. The copolymers show promising separation performance at high temperatures and exhibit increased H-2/CO2 selectivity with temperature.
