Biochemical properties of cellulolytic and xylanolytic enzymes from Sporotrichum thermophile and their utility in bioethanol production using rice straw

Bijender Singh et al.

Summary: Utilizing response surface methodology, Sporotrichum thermophile showed enhanced production of cellulolytic and xylanolytic enzymes in solid-state fermentation using wheat straw and cotton oil cake. The enzymes displayed optimal activity at specific temperatures and pH levels, with high storage stability under low temperature conditions. The enzymes improved the liberation of reducing sugars from ammonia-pretreated rice straw, leading to increased bioethanol production via separate hydrolysis and fermentation processes.

Defining the Frontiers of Synergism between Cellulolytic Enzymes for Improved Hydrolysis of Lignocellulosic Feedstocks

Mpho S. Mafa et al.

Summary: This review discusses the synergism between enzymes in cellulolytic enzyme cocktails for lignocellulose depolymerization, emphasizing the importance of DS thresholds. The study highlights four key factors related to DS, including thresholds where enzymes synergize to produce higher product yields, thresholds where enzymes display synergism without increased yield, thresholds without synergism, and thresholds displaying anti-synergy. The understanding of DS is crucial for optimizing enzyme cocktails for higher synergism and cellulose conversion yields.
