Ferromagnetic Weyl metal in EuAgP

Yongheng Ge et al.

Summary: The combination of band topology with magnetic ordering provides a platform to realize various magnetic topological phases. By tuning the direction of magnetic moment in the ferromagnetic material EuAgP, two distinct topological phases can be switched. The material exhibits different properties under different magnetic moment directions, showing phenomena such as Weyl points and Fermi arcs.

Network of Topological Nodal Planes, Multifold Degeneracies, and Weyl Points in CoSi

Nico Huber et al.

Summary: This study showcases the importance of global band topology in the investigation of chiral graphene CoSi. The findings include a network of band crossings comprising topological nodal planes, multifold degeneracies, and Weyl points, confirming the fermion doubling theorem. Experimental evidence from Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations and material-specific calculations support the presence of sixfold and fourfold degenerate crossings connected to the distribution of topological charges.

Ultrahigh transverse thermoelectric power factor in flexible Weyl semimetal WTe2

Yu Pan et al.

Summary: This study explores the potential of van der Waals bonded Weyl semimetal WTe2 for flexible thermoelectric applications and finds that WTe2 single crystals have an ultrahigh Nernst power factor. The unique band structure and high mobilities contribute to this huge Nernst power factor. The large Ettingshausen signal is also observed. This work provides important guidance for the design and application of flexible micro-/nano-thermoelectric devices.

Colossal Room-Temperature Terahertz Topological Response in Type-II Weyl Semimetal NbIrTe4

Jiantian Zhang et al.

Summary: This study fabricates a THz detector using a type-II Weyl semimetal (NbIrTe4), which shows excellent THz-detection performance due to the large tilting angle of Weyl nodes that improves photoresponsivity and mobility. The device also exhibits a giant intrinsic anisotropic conductance and THz response, both of which are record values.

Spin-generation in magnetic Weyl semimetal Co2MnGa across varying degree of chemical order

Taqiyyah S. S. Safi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of structural ordering on the efficiency of spin Hall effect in Co2MnGa material. The experimental results show that large spin Hall angles are observed in both the B2 and L2(1) phases, and the ordered MWSM phase does not provide an advantage in generating a strong spin Hall angle. This suggests the existence of more complex mechanisms in these material stacks.

Berry curvature induced antisymmetric in-plane magneto-transport in magnetic Weyl EuB6

Qingqi Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, a large anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) at a very low magnetic field in a Weyl semimetal EuB6 is observed and explained as the modification in conductivity due to the Berry curvature in a tilted Weyl system. This research provides a new strategy for achieving large AMR in low-magnetic-field applications and enriches the transport physics of spintronic devices.

Chirality in the Solid State: Chiral Crystal Structures in Chiral and Achiral Space Groups

Gerhard H. Fecher et al.

Summary: Chirality is a property that depends on specific symmetries. This study quantifies chirality using Hausdorff distances and continuous chirality measures and discusses its impact on bulk solids and surfaces. The study proposes using optical circular dichroism in the angular distribution of photoelectrons to distinguish the handedness of chiral solids and their surfaces. The importance of chirality is also discussed in the context of crystal structures, band structure, and the Berry curvature.

Origin of the type-II Weyl state in topological antiferromagnetic YbMnBi2

Xiao-Sheng Ni et al.

Summary: In this study, we used density functional theory calculations to investigate the magnetic and topological properties of YbMnBi2 and found that it is a Dirac semimetal with a collinear antiferromagnetic spin order. Surprisingly, by canting the magnetic moments of Mn ions, we discovered that YbMnBi2 can enter into the type-II Weyl state. We propose that possible Bi vacancies induce a topological phase transition in YbMnBi2.

Anomalous transport due to Weyl fermions in the chiral antiferromagnets Mn3X, X=Sn, Ge

Taishi Chen et al.

Summary: The recent discoveries of large zero-field Hall and Nernst effects in antiferromagnets Mn3X (X=Sn, Ge) are considered fingerprints of magnetic Weyl nodes near the Fermi energy, highlighting the importance of magnetic topological states in condensed matter research. This review combines previous reports with new transport measurements on high-quality Mn3Sn and Mn3Ge single crystals, identifying magnetotransport signatures specific to chiral anomalies and planar Hall effect, suggesting the essential role of magnetic Weyl fermions in producing large transverse responses in the absence of magnetization.

Electronic structure and topology across Tc in the magnetic Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2

Antonio Rossi et al.

Summary: Co3Sn2S2 is a magnetic Weyl semimetal with ferromagnetic ordering at 177 K. Below the Curie temperature, it evolves into a Mott ferromagnet, while above the Curie temperature it transitions into a correlated metallic state. Researchers demonstrated through a model and simulation how the collapse of bands across the magnetic transition leads to a correlated state with characteristic photoemission signatures.
