Magnetic field hyperactivity during the early Neoproterozoic: A paleomagnetic and cyclostratigraphic study of the Katav Formation, southern Urals, Russia

Inessa Golovanova et al.

Summary: This study presents a detailed analysis of the magnetostratigraphic and cyclostratigraphic profile of the Katav Formation in the southern Urals. The rocks in this formation show primary magnetization. The study also reveals a period of magnetic field reversal hyperactivity in the Neoproterozoic interval.

A fast way to estimate the clay fabric from shale fragments. Key example from a strained thrust footwall (Pyrenees).

Francho Gracia-Puzo et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new approach based on Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility for defining the spatial evolution of deformation in shales. The technique allows for fast and accurate analysis of non-oriented fragments, revealing previously undetected tectonic features such as blind thrusts. Results show that the study of magnetic fabric is particularly sensitive and accurate for understanding the process and state of deformation in shales.

Linking the Variation of Sediment Accumulation Rate to Short Term Sea-Level Change Using Cyclostratigraphy: Case Study of the Lower Berriasian Hemipelagic Sediments in Central Tunisia (Southern Tethys)

Hamdi Omar et al.

Summary: This study utilized high-resolution magnetic susceptibility and % CaCO3 records to track astronomical cycles in a Lower Berriasian record from central Tunisia. The research revealed the dominance of E-405-kyr and e(100)-kyr cycles in climate turnover and proposed a floating astronomical timescale with a duration estimate of approximately 1.6 Myr. Additionally, the application of spectral analysis techniques allowed for the reconstruction of a local eustatic profile matching previously published charts.
