Network tailoring of organosilica membranes via aluminum doping to improve the humid-gas separation performance

Norihiro Moriyama et al.

Summary: Organosilica membranes have attracted attention for their excellent hydrothermal stability and separation performance in humid-gas separations. This study explores the doping of aluminum into the organosilica structure, which improves water selectivity while maintaining high water permeance. Aluminum doping promotes densification of the pore structure and molecular sieving, enhancing water adsorption and blocking permeation by other gases.

Water permeation in gas and liquid phases through organosilica membranes: A unified theory of reverse osmosis, pervaporation, and vapor permeation

Norihiro Moriyama et al.

Summary: In this study, the relationship among reverse osmosis, pervaporation, and vapor permeation for molecular separation via membranes was formulated and verified through experiments. The model also successfully predicted the permeance of water, methanol, and hydrogen under different pressure levels by considering the effect of concentration in the membrane pores.

Zeolite membranes: Comparison in the separation of H2O/H-2/CO2 mixtures and test of a reactor for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol

R. Raso et al.

Summary: A zeolite membrane reactor can enhance the reaction rate and conversion efficiency in the hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol, with zeolite A showing the best water/hydrogen separation factor. Preliminary experiments indicate that the methanol yield is significantly improved when using a membrane reactor compared to a traditional reactor, sometimes even surpassing the thermodynamic equilibrium limit in a conventional reactor.

A review of boiler waste heat recovery technologies in the medium-low temperature range

Yiyu Men et al.

Summary: The technology of waste heat recovery from medium-low temperature flue gas has been extensively reviewed, focusing on the principle and characteristics of various systems. More advanced waste heat recovery systems are proposed to enhance the difference between the cold source and the flue gas, with heat recovery efficiency exceeding 80% in some cases. Specific systems, such as heat pump systems and vapor pump boiler systems, are analyzed for their efficiency, economic benefits, and pollutant emissions.

Improved performance of organosilica membranes for steam recovery at moderate-to-high temperatures via the use of a hydrothermally stable intermediate layer

Norihiro Moriyama et al.

Summary: By utilizing a nanoporous intermediate layer and a sub-nanoporous separation layer derived from BTESE, the BTESE/i-BTESE membrane demonstrated excellent water permeance and maintained high stability under high temperature and pressure conditions. The results suggest that a hydrothermally stable intermediate layer can significantly enhance the performance of organosilica membranes for steam recovery applications.

Steam recovery via nanoporous and subnanoporous organosilica membranes: The effects of pore structure and operating conditions

Norihiro Moriyama et al.

Summary: Subnanoporous organosilica membranes outperform nanoporous membranes in steam recovery at high temperatures, exhibiting higher water permeance, H₂O/N₂ permeance ratio, and maximum water flux. They also demonstrate similar high levels of water permeance for various binary steam/non-condensable gas mixtures.
