Deposition of polypyrrole on wrinkled polydimethylsiloxane to fabricate stretchable conductive membranes for multifunctional bioreactor applications

Wei -Wen Hu et al.

Summary: Researchers developed a multifunctional bioreactor capable of simultaneously applying mechanical and electrical stimulation to promote myoblast differentiation. They prepared a highly stretchable conductive PPy/PDMS membrane on a flexible PDMS substrate. The membrane maintained low electrical resistance and could withstand repeated cyclic stretching. The application of cyclic stretching effectively promoted myotube formation and alignment.

Ag and Cu metal-assisted chemical etching for diamond-wire-sawn single-crystalline silicon solar cell

Shing-Dar Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ag and Cu metal-assisted chemical etching technique was used to etch single-crystalline silicon, and the relationship between the shape of the pore cross-section and passivation quality was deciphered. Parameters such as Jo1, minority carrier lifetime, and surface recombination velocity were measured and correlated with the open-circuit voltage (Voc) value for all solar cells. The efficiency of almost all Cu-MACE solar cells was found to be higher than that of the Ag-MACE solar cells, despite the higher Voc of the latter.

Versatilely tuned vertical silicon nanowire arrays by cryogenic reactive ion etching as a lithium-ion battery anode

Andam Deatama Refino et al.

Summary: The production of high-aspect-ratio silicon nanowire-based anode for lithium ion batteries is challenging and requires the optimization of several etching parameters. Different materials were used as masks to investigate their effects on resulting nanowire structures. Raman spectroscopy revealed higher compressive stress in longer Si wires, and anisotropy of lattice stress was found in Si nanowires. The half-cell battery integrating ICP-RIE-based silicon nanowire anode exhibited a certain capacity but needs further improvement.
