Self-similar characteristics of underexpanded, cryogenic hydrogen and methane jets

Xuefang Li et al.

Summary: Underexpanded, cryogenic hydrogen and methane jets were studied using laser Raman scattering diagnostic. The study focused on the release of jets from 1 mm to 1.25 mm orifices under different pressure and temperature conditions. A denoising algorithm was developed to reduce noise interference for data analysis. The results showed similar characteristics between cryogenic jets and room-temperature jets, indicating the self-similar behavior of cryogenic jets.

Summary: This study presents an experimental and numerical characterization of the jet flame produced after the accidental release of pure hydrogen from a high-pressure tank. The results, expressed in terms of temperature history and flame length, show excellent agreement between the computational fluid dynamic and experimental data.

Numerical study on unsteady characteristics of high-pressure hydrogen jet ejected from a pinhole

Makoto Asahara et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the unsteady fluid dynamics of high-pressure hydrogen jets. Simulation results showed the formation of a highly concentrated cloud of hydrogen at the base of the jet, with observed correlation between the spatio-temporal distribution of hydrogen concentration and velocity.
