Environmental factors, such as water levels, fluctuations, and discharges, had a positive effect on avian diversity, while water diversion, salinity, and tourism pressure had a negative effect. Understanding the unique structure of the avian metacommunity in the Sicilian wetlands can help inform conservation policies to mitigate risks.
